Meiv – “Zima”

Comprising members in Hong Kong and Tokyo, Meiv unveil an idiosyncratic, spacey pop sound throughout their new album Chemical Bubble Bug. Among the release’s highlights is the track “Zima,” an instrumental effort showcasing the project’s tonal effervescence and structural variety. Shimmering keys and laid-back guitar twangs engross, aided by increasingly hectic key-like trickles. The second half shows an enhanced structural emphasis, the effervescent keys bolstered by sporadic rhythmic bursts and pauses. The track remains climatic throughout, a trend throughout tracks on the album, from the funky pop creativity of “Acropolis Hill” to the spacious, cinematic feel of “Boy Ken.”
