Alcopops – “Seventy Two”

A nostalgic alt-rock cut from AlcopopsDEVIL EP, “Seventy Two” bridges power-pop and shoegaze with a fuzzy, melodic pull. The Portland (OR)-based band navigate with jangly yearning in the first half, the chirpy guitar emphasis past the one-minute mark evolving enjoyably into a raucous hard-rock heaviness. “Frustration, adoration, they go hand in hand,” the vocals sing during the ensuing verses, the power-pop aesthetic forming into a rock-forward captivation reminiscent of The Wrens. “Seventy Two” is a stellar rock track from Alcopops, whose DEVIL is streaming below:

“Seventy Two” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2021’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Rock.
